Do you ever just… need a minute?

Ugh, same. Especially amidst all of this global pandemic mayhem (What week is it? What are jeans and why did I used to wear them?) I find myself often feeling like I just need a quick reboot. There are lots of ways I give myself a reboot throughout the day: taking endless photos of my dogs, stepping onto my back porch, making myself a smoothie, and dancing around enthusiastically to bad Pop music, to name a few. Lately though I’ve been feeling like I need something a bit more: official. I need the big guns. I love meditating, but sometimes I don’t have the time, patience, or mental capacity to sit for 10+ minutes. Sometimes I just want somebody to tell me to take a few deep breaths and calm the hell down, you know?

So that’s what I’m here to do. Since I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for I created my own quick meditation for anxiety that’s designed to get you grounded ASAP. You could do this at your office (remember those?), in your bed, in your car (I do this often and love it), or wherever. You get the idea. I don’t need to tell you where to meditate.

This is also, conveniently, a great beginners meditation to try if you’re just getting started. It uses scientifically the backed meditation techniques of body scanning and thoughtful breath work to calm the central nervous system down, get out of your head, and to calibrate your brain waves. I just did a (Zoom!) yoga teacher training all about meditation, so I am FIRED UP ABOUT THIS STUFF. In like, a zen and meditative way. Or whatever.

Are there other types of meditations you’d like to see? Other lengths that you’re looking for? Let me know!

As always - stay rad.
