Intention Setting Guided Meditation

Intentions are more than goals or resolutions, they’re essentially the principles that you use for your life. If you’ve ever done yoga before, you might have set an intention at the beginning of class. When I first started practicing I LOVED having the focus of an intention. I would offer up my class to a person (often my mom), or to the goal of deep breathing, or to the theme of stepping outside my comfort zone. It wasn’t until a few months ago that a friend pointed out to me (while I was panicking to her about a meeting I was insanely stressed out about) that we all have the power to set intentions anytime, for anything. Umm where has this been all my life?! I ended up setting the intention to stay calm during said meeting and it went incredibly. I think it goes without saying that now I set intentions all the time. Sometimes I do it at the beginning of the day, before a big meeting, or just as a tool to reset my vibe in the moment. For instance, if I’m blind with rage I might set the intention to be more relaxed for the rest of the day.

I’ve already posted by monthly intention setting worksheet (which is subsequently one of the most trafficked pages on my site) but wanted to share the general meditation that I go through when I feel the need to set an intention. For me, intention setting has been a much needed reminder that I have *some* control over the mayhem happening around me. Or, at least, I can control how I react. Who knew?!
