In Honor of Her Birth: the Insane Britney Spears Workout

In case you weren't already aware, today is the birthday of our beloved queen- Britney Spears. She was technically born 35 years ago, but I think that we can all agree that she is ageless. Britney is going to outlive us all, you guys. 35 years ago we entered an era that will be refered to by historians as The Britney Age. Please plan your days accordingly. I expect you to wear a snake around your neck, shave your head, OR make out with Madonna. I'll let you pick.

I discovered Britney in the 4th grade and was, much like everybody else, obsessed with her. My poor mom, you guys. I made her listen to the ...Baby One More Time album SO many times.  Every car ride was either Britney or N'SYNC. I don't know how she didn't kill me.  My love for Britney never waned. I distinctly recall driving to high school and blasting Piece of Me, feeling like she was speaking right into my soul. She just got me. It was like, so totally hard to be 17. As a "grown up"I finally had the opportunity to see Britney preform live in Vegas with my friend. I'm pretty sure that we cried. I distinctly remember not really even wanting to drink much before because I wanted to remember every little second. And that was in Vegas!

I also think that the fascination with Britney stems from how many times she's picked herself up, dusted herself off, and gotten back to work. Britney has had some mental health struggles. Her weight has fluctuated. She has had some very, very public breakups. But she still goes on! There have been fleeting moments where we didn't think she would make it, and then she came back better than ever. 4th grade was a long time ago and she is still going strong. Say what you will about the Queen of Pop, but my love for her will never fade.

On this day of her birth, I will be listening to the sweet melody of her voice, trying to remember the choreography from Crazy, and praying that one day my abs look half as good as hers.

Speaking of abs...

When I was a wee little baby blogger my bestie Dessa and I had a blog together. We would blog about food, fitness, and Britney Spears. We both share a love-I mean OBSESSION- for Britney. Dessa did some pretty badass internet investigation to find the alleged Britney Spears workout from her prime. This workout is insanity- no wonder she was so shredded! It also strikes me as the kind of workout you would only be truly committed to if you were in the public eye, because YIKES.

When Dessa found this workout I tried it on the carpet of my first apartment. I remember being so tired afterwards that I fell asleep face down on the floor in front of the heater. The workout below is laughable in that it is so bananas intense, but I believe in you! You better work, bitch!

Sorry- couldn't help myself.

Also, if you don't already, you need to follow Britney on Instagram. It's hilarious and amazing and I love her.

I'm saving my energy for the KaisaFit event tonight, but I will report back after I've successfully completed Britney's workout. If I survive it. If I don't make it, bury me in sequins.

Happy Friday!
